  • 300g Mawa (milk solids)
  • 100g milk powder
  • 800g sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 tsp rose water
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups water
  • 300ml oil
  • 2 tsp ghee


  1. In a bowl, combine the mawa, milk powder, and 1/2 cup of the milk. Mix well until smooth.
  2. Add the cardamom powder and rose water and mix again.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and remaining milk until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the mawa mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Form the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  6. Heat the oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  7. When the oil is hot, add the ghee and swirl to coat the bottom of the pan.
  8. Carefully add the jamuns to the hot oil, a few at a time.
  9. Fry the jamuns for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  10. Remove the jamuns from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  11. To make the syrup, combine the sugar and water in a saucepan.
  12. Bring the syrup to a boil over medium heat.
  13. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the syrup has thickened slightly.
  14. Add the fried jamuns to the syrup and stir to coat.
  15. Let the jamuns soak in the syrup for at least 30 minutes before serving.
